This Blacksmithing leveling guide will show you the fastest way to level your Blacksmithing skill up from 1 to 300 in the cheapest way possible,especially on a new server where there is a whole economy to build and any gold coin will be saved.
The listof materials required assumes you gain a skill point for each craft.Ifthis doesn’t happen, you will have to buy a few extra materials while you areleveling your Blacksmithing.
Leveling blacksmithing takes asignificant amount of harvested materials which we’ve listed. Unless you have alot of gold, we recommend your second profession bemining to help gather the resources needed.
This way, you can avoid a significant gold expense atthe AH(Auction House).
2. Which classes should learn Blacksmithing?
Here are the classes we recommend to learn Blacksmithing:
Warrior & Ret Paladin
Learning Blacksmithing as a Warrior or Ret Paladin is a very good option to get pre-raid BiS items, such as:
- plans-lionheart-helm
- plans-titanic-leggings
- Especially : sulfuras-hand-of-ragnaros and you need : sulfuron-hammer

3. List of materials required for 1-300:
Here is the list of all the materials you need to powerlevelyour blacksmithing 1-300
- 133 x[Rough Stone]
- 285 x[Copper Bar] Buy only 210 if you don't have mining
- 80 x[Coarse Stone]
- 7 x[Silver Bar]
- 75 x[Tin Bar] Skip this if you DON'T have mining.
- 150 x[Bronze Bar] Don't buy this if you have Mining.
- 105 x[Heavy Stone]
- 280 x[Iron Bar] Buy only 230 if you don't have mining
- 50 x[Steel Bar] Don't buy this if you have mining.
- 20 x[Solid Stone]
- 150 x[Mageweave Cloth]
- 320 x[Mithril Bar]
- 20 x[Dense Stone]
- 672 x [Thorium Bar]
- 80 x[Rugged Leather]
- 64 x blue power crystal
- 14 x [Star Ruby]
- 40 x green power crystal
- 22 x Citrine
4. Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 1-90
First,visit any trainer in the main citiesand learn Blacksmithing.
If you have mining, you will get the stones below by mining Copper or Tin.
Copper Ore is the lowest level orethat you can farm. It comes from Copper Veins and ismostly found in the starting areas and inlower level zones. If you are below level 20, you should stay in the zone where you are questing currently;there will be plenty of Copper Ore there.
Durotar is an excellent place to farm Copper Ore for Horde players with 5-6 Copper veins inside caves
For Alliance players, Darkshore is the place to be.

Follow these steps for 1-90:
- 1 – 25 : 25 x[Rough Sharpening Stone]- 25 x [Rough Stone]
- This recipe will be yellow for the last 5 points, so you might have to make more.
- 25 – 65 : 50 x[Rough Grinding Stone]- 100 x [Rough Stone]
- 65 – 75 : 16 x[Coarse Sharpening Stone]- 16 x [Coarse Stone]
- 75 – 90 : 20 x[Coarse Grinding Stone]- 40 x [Coarse Stone]
- Save 20 of these, you will need them later!
5. Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 90-155
Same as 1-90, this part will be about Copper ore and Tin ore.
- 90 – 100 : 10 x[Runed Copper Belt]- 100 x [Copper Bar]
- 100– 125: 25x[Rough Bronze Leggings]- 150 x [Bronze Bar]
- 125 – 140 : 35 x[Heavy Grinding Stone]- 105 [Heavy Stone]
- Keep the Heavy Grinding Stones; make this one up to 150 if Heavy Stone is cheap.
- 140 – 145 : 5 x[Rough Bronze Shoulders]- 25 x [Bronze Bar], 5 x [Coarse Grinding Stone], 5Oeil tenebreux
- You can skip this part If you were lucky with the Heavy Grinding Stones.
- 145 – 155 : 10 x[Patterned Bronze Bracers]- 50 x [Bronze Bar], 20 x [Coarse Grinding Stone].
Once 150: The Horde players will have to go to Saru Steelfury in Orgrimmar and for Bengus Deepforge in Ironforge for the Alliance to become "Expert".
6. Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 155-200
If you have mining, you will get the stones below by mining Iron Ore. It's recommended to have Mining skill 100 before you start farming Iron Ore, because you will get more ores.
Feralas is the best place to mine Iron. Anywhere you go in Feralas, you will find Iron. Follow this route.
- 155 – 165 :
- 10 x[Green Iron Leggings]- 80 x [Iron Bar],
- 10 x [Heavy Grinding Stone], 10 x [Green Dye].
- [Green Dye]is sold by Tailoring and Leatherworking supply vendors.
- 165 – 190 : 25 x[Green Iron Bracers]- 150 x [Iron Bar], 25 x [Green Dye].
- 190 – 200 : 10 x[Golden Scale Bracers]– 50 x [Steel Bar], 20 x [Heavy Grinding Stone].
7. Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 200-260
If you have mining, you will get the stones below by mining Mithril Ore.
It's recommended to have Mining skill 150 before you start farming.
The greatest place to mine Mithril is the Burning Steppes. You’ll maybe meetsome lvl 60 doing the same profession and trying to level up theirmining skills and you might have to fight or flee. Stay close to mountains and it’s better to avoidthe caves because there is plenty of Mithril at the corners of the map. Avoid the center (red arc) if you want to loot quickly without having PVP troubles.
Alternatively, if the Burning Steppes aretoo scary because your level is not high enough or if there are a lot of PvP fights, you can go to the Badlands.
Follow these steps for 200-260:
- 200 – 210 : 20 x[Solid Sharpening Stone]- 20 x [Solid Stone]
- 210 – 225 : 15 x[Heavy Mithril Gauntlet]- 90 x [Mithril Bar], 60 x [Mageweave Cloth]
- 225 – 236 : 11 x[Mithril Scale Bracers]- 88 x [Mithril Bar] , 22 x [Citrine]
Once 225: The Horde and Alliance players will have to go to Brikk Keencraft in Loot Bay to pass as "Artisan".
[Plans: Mithril Scale Bracers]is sold byGharashat Swamp of Sorrows (Horde) and byHargganat The Hinterlands (Alliance). There is approximately a 30-60 minutes respawn time, this means you have to wait if someone bought it before you.
Make[Mithril Scale Pants]if you do not want to wait for the recipe to respawn or check the Auction House and look for[Plans: Heavy Mithril Pants]
- 236 – 250
- Check the Auction House, and buy[Plans: Mithril Spurs]if you can get it for a reasonable price, then make[Mithril Spurs]until 250.
- 14 x [Mithril Coif]- 140 x [Mithril Bar], 84 x [Mageweave Cloth]
- 250 – 260
- 20 x [Dense Sharpening Stone]- 20 x [Dense Stone]
- This recipe will be green for the last few points, so you might have to make more, or fewer.
8. Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 260-300
If you have mining, you will get the stones below by mining Thorium Ore.
It's recommended to have Mining skill 200 before you start farming. There are two types of Thorium Veins you will encounter on these routes, small and rich.
Winterspring is the best place for mining Thorium. Go to this route, you will find Thorium everywhere.
Follow these steps for 260-300:
- 260 – 276 : Create 16 x [Thorium Bracers] by using 192 x [Barre de thorium], 64 x [Blue power crystal]
- 276 – 290 : 14 x [Imperial Plate Bracers]- 280 x [Barre de thorium], 14 x [Rubis étoilé]
- 290 – 300 : 10 x[Thorium Boots]- 200 x [Barre de thorium], 80 x [Cuir robuste], 40 x [Blue power crystal]
9. Congratulations, you reached lvl 300!
Feel free to buy the new plans at the expert blacksmithing trainerto get items like the Nightfall or some Elemental Sharpening Stone.
It's good to know that most of the rare and epic forge plans can’t get looted in raid buthave to be bought from NPCs.
These are found in instances like Lokhtos Darkbargainer <TheThoriumBrotherhood> in Blackrock Depths. You can find something like the BlackGuard or the Ebon Hand.
