1978 Ford Econoline 150

This van is a head turner. It is the topic of conversation at almost every stop. Thumbs up and waves and smiles across the board. Who wouldn’t want to roll a rig that puts smiles on peoples faces?

1978 Ford Van that I purchased from the second owner. The owner prior to me had it for just a couple months and sold ‘only’ due to circ*mstances revolving around COVID and their families inability to utilize the van as it was intended. During the second owner’s brief period of time the van had a tune up at Hockinson Auto Works. He had new mufflers installed and all tires replaced to new. Basically this is a one owner vehicle [title transfers aside]. The reason I say this is that the second owner had it for a couple months. I have driven the van approximately 2,000 miles. During my time of ownership I had all major fluids replaced, pulley and belt replacements, and I had the rear tire mount fabricated and installed.

Current mileage is ~125,XXX. My understanding is that the engine [351 Windsor] has 30K on rebuild and the transmission has approximately 50K on rebuild. Based on the way it runs and shifts… I am confident that what I was told is accurate.. The van does not leak any fluids. The paint is not fantastic but it looks very nice. The original owner did the repaint and left the color the same as when it came off the assembly line. The upholstery is very nice. It is very clean and it looks like it should in 1978. The carpet is not lovely. See below in ‘needs’. So, the headliner. This is definitely a conversation piece. It is immaculate! It fits the van theme and there isn’t anybody who hasn’t said they love it. It will definitely make you smile.

Specifications:
125,XXX Miles
351 Windsor 30K on rebuild
Transmission ~50K on rebuild
Dual Fuel Tanks w/locking gas caps
Air conditioning. Yes. It has working A/C. It blows cold and is the original A/C Unit
Customized by U.S. Van, Tigard, OR.
Seats 7. 3 in rear, 2 on swivel couch, Driver Passenger both on swivel chairs
2 Sunroofs
1 Crank Vent
All Windows Open, sliding windows have screens, black louvered shades and curtains.
Privacy curtain between driver/passenger and the rear of the van.

Needs:
Windshield washer fluid hose reconnected. I can see where it’s disconnected. The pump and tank do work and I can show you that.
Stereo/Entertainment Center: I removed the ‘Kraco’ stereo, Amp, Equalizer and 2 bracket mounted speakers [Kraco :)...] There are 8 remaining speakers but ‘eh’... I would toss them and replace.
The cab fan works. It pushes heat, air, A/C… however I find the sound it makes annoying. Maybe it won’t bother you.
The running boards are awesome. I actually was going to remove them and I do have chrome fender trim pieces ‘brand new’ to replace if you so choose. The running boards grew on me. The original lights within the boards do not work. I have pulled whatever wiring went them. They just weren’t something I felt could be restored without restoring the entire running board and wheel flair accessory.
Carpet: Blue shag. It is likely original. It doesn’t smell and overall I don’t think it is all that bad. However, if I were to keep, I would replace it. Note that I have shampooed the carpet twice and I think it is probably as good as it is going to get.
Front door window seals/felt: They are old, they are brittle and a little love would serve them well.
Exhaust leak: It has a slight exhaust leak. I know this is an easy fix and wouldn’t cost much. I could fix it but it hasn’t bothered me and it has zero impact on anything.

Why am I selling: I am selling my van because it doesn’t exactly fit my needs. I purchased it with the intent to use it strictly for camping. I have done a few camping excursions and I love it. It is a throwback to the 70’s every time I hop in.. I had planned to gut the whole thing and start fresh. For some reason I got hung up on the nostalgia of the van and I resigned to the fact that there are people who would want to keep/restore/or have the guts to take it all out and make it theirs. I am just not that person.

Price is $10,900. I will not accept anything other than cash or a visit with you to your bank ‘together’ to transfer funds. Yep, unfortunately this is the world we live in and it just has to be this way or we cannot make a deal.

I gave up on uploading interior photos... this is what makes the van. If interested please text me and I'd be happy to send you more photos.
